The racing season is finally here. Time to see the hard work of the off-season put into action and see who will step up to the plate in 2011. The Daytona International Speedway is filled with activities all week long as all three major touring series hit the track this weekend that caps off with the 53rd Annual Daytona 500 on Sunday. Here is your guide to everything happening on the track at Daytona.
Thursday is a very busy day that kickoffs at 9 a.m. with Nationwide Series practice followed by final practice at 10 a.m. which will be shown on SPEED. The Truck Series will take the track next starting at 12 noon for their final practice before qualifying which can be seen on SPEED. The popular Pre-Race Show “NASCAR RaceDay” begins at 1 p.m. to get you ready for the Gatorade Duel races which set the field for the Daytona 500. Watch them on SPEED at 2 p.m. To close out the jam packed day of on track activities, the Truck Series takes to the track for qualifying on SPEED starting at 6 p.m.
Friday opens with Sprint Cup practice at 11 a.m. with another at 12:30 p.m. Both practice sessions will be shown live on Speed. On track activity will slow down for a bit and pick back up at 4 p.m. for Nationwide Series qualifying. Friday will end with SPEED’s coverage of the Camping World Truck Series race at 7:30PM. Driver Introductions begin at 7 p.m.
Final Sprint Cup practice takes place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Watch it live on SPEED. From there the Nationwide Series begins their season on ESPN 2 with some familiar faces from the Cup Series despite the new one championship per season rule. Driver Introductions begin at 12:45 p.m.
NASCAR’s Super Bowl takes center stage on Sunday. The 53rd Annual Daytona 500 begins at 1 p.m. on FOX with a big prerace show featuring Country Music artist Brad Paisley. Driver Introductions begin at 12:15 p.m.
