Rookie Trevor Bayne captured his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory Sunday at Daytona International Speedway, the young Tennessee driver endured two attempts at a green-white-checkered finish and held off challenges from two-time champion Tony Stewart to win the 2011 Daytona 500.

"Are you kidding me," Bayne radioed to crew after taking the checkered flag. "I don't even know where to go," he said as he searched for Victory Lane.

Bayne, driving the Wood Brothers Ford, received a push from Bobby Labonte on the final restart with Carl Edwards making a last minute move for second as the leaders neared the finish line. Edwards hooked to Bayne's rear bumper, pushing his Ford teammate to the win.

"I keep thinking I'm dreaming," Bayne told FOX in Victory lane. I pray a lot and this shows how powerful God is."

Ford swept the top three postions with Edwards second and David Gilliland third. Bobby Labonte and Kurt Busch completed the top-five.

The race was a wild one, even by Daytona standards, featuring a record 74 lead changes among 23 drivers along with a record 16 caution flags. The always anticipated "Big One" happened on lap 29 when David Reutimann spun while being pushed by his car owner Michael Waltrip. The big wreck involved 17 cars and sent 12 drivers to the garage.

"Mike was pushing me, it wasn't his fault," explained Reutimann. "I was slow on the draw letting them know what was going on up ahead and here we are."

Bayne becomes the 35th different driver to win the Great American Race, just one day after celebrating his 20th birthday.
