It was a good thing to see Trevor Bayne become the youngest driver to win the Daytona 500 and the Wood Brothers going back to Victory Lane, it has been a while since the Wood Brothers last 500 win with David Pearson in 1976. Those were good things to watch but I am not very impressed with the way the racing turned out.

I was disappointed that Dale, Jr. got wrecked after coming from the last starting position to lead the race and stay competitive until he was involved in an accident with two laps to go. But it is a nice thing to see a young driver get his first win in the biggest race of the year.

I will say watching the race with my girlfriend, who is not the biggest NASCAR fan, opened my eyes more. I wrote before that we should let the opinions go about the two car draft until the 500. Well I will say that I did not enjoy seeing the two car draft the whole race.

Yes we did see some exciting racing throughout the race, but it just wasn't Daytona racing that we are used to. I bet that the NASCAR officials are going to do some research on the race and will figure out a way to change the way its run. NASCAR definitely has a lot of work to do beofre the July race comes around.

I do not believe that they should try and slow the cars down or restrict the air going into the front of the car. Let’s open up the cars a little more. Give the teams some more speed to use, but yes let’s keep it safe. Even though we did see some good racing this weekend in the other series’, I believe that something has to be done to keep the cars grouped together.

I would like to see NASCAR introduce the same bodies used in the Nationwide Series to the Sprint Cup Series. I believe that if you put the different body styles on the cars and ad those extra cut-ins and everything with the bodies to the equation, it would make the teams work harder to get the handling down and getting the cars hooked up. Maybe even bring in the fuel injection and get that tested so the restrictor plates can be removed.

NASCAR does have to do something about this. Even though, yes the teams only run Daytona twice a year, you have to take in consideration that Talladega is the same type of track. Now we will have to wait and see what happens with NASCAR. Of course, we all might not be happy about what they decide but we will have to deal with it.

In closing, I am happy to see Trevor win the biggest race of his career in only his second Sprint Cup race. Congratulations Trevor, you did a great job.
