Carl Edwards dominated on track activities Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway, the Roush Fenway driver had the fastest car in the first two NASCAR Nationwide Series practice sessions and opening Sprint Cup practice before claiming the pole for Sunday's Jeff Byrd 500.

Edwards lap at 128.014 mph edged Ford teammate Greg Biffle by 0.046 seconds in qualifying on the fast half-mile to complete a front row sweep for Roush Fenway Racing.

"I'm enjoying this," Edwards said after making his pole winning run. I'm hoping it lasts. I'm going to keep doing this until we win a championship or the car won't go as fast."

Regan Smith lines up third on Sunday's grid with Paul Menard and David Ragan completing the top-five starters.

Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr., Mark Martin, and Kasey Kahne start sixth through tenth.

Goodyear announced they will truck in some 1,200 right-side tires for the Jeff Byrd 500 after NASCAR officials determined the new tire being used did not leave enough rubber on the track. The tire was changed from last year when drivers complained the track was slick from to much rubber.

Polesitter Edwards says this could turn things around come Sunday.

"The potential is there to completely turn this field around," Edwards said.
