After a rain shortened practice on Friday, Sprint Cup drivers returned to the 2-mile Auto Club Speedway for two practice sessions on Saturday. Kevin Harvick had the quickest car in the opening session and David Ragan was fastest in Happy Hour.
Harvick recorded a lap at 181.146 mph while Ragan layed down a lap at 180.973 mph.
Denny Hamlin was second quickest in the first session with a lap of 180.841 mph followed by Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon.
Two-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart was second in Happy Hour posting a lap of 180.800 mph. Completing the top-5 were Carl Edwards, Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon.
"We made a lot of changes during the day today and if the weather doesn't fool us and the track doesn't change a whole lot then I feel good about our chances tomorrow", Ragan said after climbing from his No. 6 Roush-Fenway Racing Ford.
Sunday's Auto Club 400 will be broadcast live at 3 p.m. ET on FOX.
