David Ragan led an interesting Sprint Cup Happy Hour at Martinsville Speedway Friday afternoon. The Roush Fenway driver edged Jeff Gordon late in the final practice session for Sunday's Tums Fast Relief 500.
Ragan drove the No. 6 RFR Ford at 96.268 mph around the flat half-mile after Gordon's lap at 96.220 mph had the four-time champion on top for most of the 90-minute session.
Brad Keselowski had the third fastest lap at 96.166 mph with David Reutimann and Kasey Kahne completing the top five.
Shortly after Happy Hour began Joey Logano made contact with the outside retaining wall heavily damaging the No. 20 JGR Toyota. Logano will start a backup car on Sunday.
Dennis Setzer, piloting the No. 92 Brian Keselowski Dodge, hit the wall later in the session and much harder than Logano. Setzer was uninjured in the devastating crash that pretty much destroyed the car. The team has no backup car and has withdrawn from the race.
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying for the Tums Fast Relief 500 is Saturday at 12:10 p.m. ET.
