NASCAR Wide Open in Talladega This Weekend

Get ready NASCAR fans, white knuckle action is upon us as the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series are at the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway this weekend along with an appearance by the ARCA Series while the Truck Series takes a breather.

 

Rising star Dakoda Armstrong picked up the win in the 2010 ARCA 250, Brad Keselowski returns as the race winner in the Nationwide Series and Kevin Harvick heads to Alabama as the defending champion of the Aaron’s 499 after edging out Jamie McMurray one year ago.

 

Carl Edwards leads the Sprint Cup point battle followed by Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. remains atop the Nationwide Series point standings.

 

The weekend in Talladega begins on Thursday at 10 a.m. with ARCA Series Practice followed by two Nationwide Practices at 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The day ends with ARCA qualifying at 5:05 p.m.

 

The ARCA Series kicks things off again on Friday with practice at 10:00 a.m. followed by Nationwide qualifying at 11:10 a.m. which can be seen on SPEED. At 1 p.m. Sprint Cup drivers take to the track for their first practice session followed by Happy Hour at 2:30 p.m., also on SPEED. ARCA driver introductions begin at 3:30 p.m. with the race set for 4:00 p.m.

 

Sprint Cup Qualifying begins Saturday at 10:30 a.m. on SPEED. The Aaron’s 312 Nationwide race will be on ESPN2 at 2:00 p.m. with driver introductions beginning at 1:30 p.m.

 

FOX will carry live coverage of the Aaron’s 499 at 11:30 a.m. Sunday with the green flag to drop shortly after 2 p.m. Driver introductions begin at 11:30 a.m. All times are local/central time.
