Hendrick Sweeps Front Two Rows at Talladega

jeff-gordon-talladega-poleJeff Gordon led a Hendrick Motorsports sweep of the top four spots in Saturday's qualifying session for Sunday's Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. Gordon's two-lap average of 178.248 mph earned the four-time NASCAR champion his 70th career Sprint Cup pole.

 

Jimmie Johnson starts on the outside of the front row with Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. lining up in row two. Paul Menard qualified his RCR Chevrolet fifth followed by Landon Cassill, David Ragan, Kurt Busch, Brian Vickers and Clint Bowyer.

 

Sam Hornish, Jr.'s car failed NASCAR's post-qualifying inspection and his qualifying time disallowed. Robby Gordon is scheduled to start the No. 7 Dodge from the back on Sunday.

 

Mike Skinner, Tony Raines and Michael McDowell failed to qualify.

 

The Aaron's 499 will be broadcast live on FOX Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET
