NASCAR’s Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series head to one of the oldest tracks on the circuit this Mother’s Day weekend, the 1.336-mile egg-shaped Darlington Raceway located in Darlington, South Carolina, for Friday’s Royal Purple 200 and Saturday’s Showtime Southern 500. Denny Hamlin, who finished second in Richmond last week, swept both events in 2010.

Carl Edwards remains your Sprint Cup point leader going to Darlington with a nine point lead over Jimmie Johnson. Kyle Busch moved up to third after winning his third straight spring race in Richmond. Dale, Jr. and Kevin Harvick are fourth and fifth, respectively. Justin Allgaier continues to lead the Nationwide point standings with Elliott Sadler six markers behind in second.

A lone Nationwide Series practice starts the weekend off at 8 a.m. on Friday followed by opening Sprint Cup practice at 11:30 a.m. Sprint Cup Happy Hour is set for 2:15 p.m., Nationwide qualifying begins at 3:35 p.m. and Sprint Cup qualifying at 5:10 p.m. Tune to SPEED for live coverage of Friday’s practice and qualifying.

Fan activities are scheduled Saturday morning with Ride Along’s beginning at 7:30 a.m. and the Track Walk at 11:45 a.m.

If you can’t make it to the track watch the Showtime Southern 500 on Fox at 7:30 p.m. Driver introductions begin at 7 p.m. All times are eastern.
