Rain interrupted NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice at Darlington Raceway Friday afternoon.  Ryan Newman had the fastest lap in the rain shortened opening session.

Newman's lap of 176.816 mph topped the speed charts followed by Carl Edwards with a lap of 176.296 mph.  Completing the top five were Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin and Kasey Kahne.

Tonight's Royal Purple 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race will be set by the NASCAR rule book after qualifying was rained out.
