Kasey Kahne broke the track record in winning the pole for Saturday night's Showtime Southern 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Darlington Raceway.  Kahne's lap at 181.254 mph broke the record set by Jamie McMurray last year. 

Ryan Newman ran 180.429 mph and will start second in the 43-car field. 

Defending race winner Denny Hamlin qualified third followed by Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon. 

Rounding out the top-10 were Marcos Ambrose, AJ Allmendinger, Brian Vickers, Tony Stewart and Brad Keselowski. 

The Showtime Southern 500 is set for tonight at 7:30 pm ET on FOX.
