A Monster of a Time for NASCAR Fans in Dover

All three NASCAR touring series are en route to the one-mile Dover International Speedway for an action packed weekend of racing. The Camping World Truck Series highlight Friday’s program with the Nationwide Series taking center stage Saturday and the Sprint Cup Series headlining on Sunday.

 

Aric Amirola is the defending champion of the Lucas Oil 200 Truck race and Kyle Busch is hoping to repeat the success he had last season when he won both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races at “The Monster Mile.”

 

The Sprint Cup and Nationwide point leaders remain the same after an eventful weekend in Darlington. Carl Edwards continues to lead the battle for the 2011 Sprint Cup championship while Justin Allgaier stayed in control of the Nationwide points. Johnny Sauter holds a slim three point advantage over Timothy Peters in the Truck Series point standings as only five points separate the top four drivers.

 

The Dover weekend begins Thursday with two Camping World Truck Series practice sessions, the first at 2:30 p.m. and the second at 4:15 p.m.

 

Truck Series qualifying kicks the day off on Friday at 10:10 a.m. followed by Sprint Cup practice at 11:00 a.m. Final Practice for Nationwide drivers begins at 12:30 p.m. with Sprint Cup Happy Hour getting underway at 2:30 p.m. Watch SPEED for live coverage of all of Friday’s on track activities except the Truck Series race.

 

The Lucas Oil 200 Camping World Truck Series race begins at 4:45 p.m. Watch tape-delayed coverage on SPEED at 8:30 p.m.

 

Saturday at Dover starts with Nationwide qualifying at 10:40 a.m. on ESPN2 followed by Sprint Cup qualifying at 12:10 p.m. live on SPEED. The Nationwide Series takes to the track for The 5-Hour Energy 200 Nationwide race starts at 2 p.m. on ESPN with driver introductions beginning at 1:30 p.m.

 

The FedEx 400 will be broadcast live from Dover on FOX at 1 p.m. Driver introductions begin at 12:30 p.m. All times are eastern.
