Matt Kenseth knew he had a fast car when the green flag dropped Sunday at Dover International Speedway. Keeping the No. 17 in a position to take advantage of a two-tire stop when the leaders took four, Kenseth didn't look back after passing his mentor Mark Martin on the final restart.
VICTORY LANE Matt Kenseth – Taking Two tires and taking a gamble on it paying off with 38 laps to go. Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer – The three best cars all day. Marcos Ambrose – 3rd Place finish puts him as one of 13 drivers with 2 or more Top 5’s.
THE GARAGE Tony Stewart – Car was slow all day and finished 6 laps down. A.J. Allmendinger – In the Top 5 until his Engine failed him on Lap 166 Storyline that we will remember: Matt Kenseth stealing a victory. Storyline that we will forget: Jimmie Johnson leading 207 laps but finishing 9th.
Power Rankings (Rankings will be based off of who is running the best, with an emphasis on the last several races but having respect for the duration of the 36 race schedule. (2) Jimmie Johnson – Leads 207 Laps but could not get any closer to Carl Edwards in the points. 3. (3)Kyle Busch – No laps led but started in 43rd and finished 4th. 2 Wins 4. (4) Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Another Consistent day to stay in 4th spot in the Standings. 5. (5) Kevin Harvick – 2 Wins, which right now is looking good to lock a chase spot up. 6. (9) Matt Kenseth – Gets his 2nd Win of the season which virtually locks a spot in the Chase. 7. (10) Clint Bowyer – Had a strong Car but got 4 tires because at the beginning of the race they tried it out and it did not work. Starting a new streak of Top 10’s. 8. (7)Kurt Busch – Only 1 Top 5, needs to be more consistent to win the title this year. 9. (8)Ryan Newman – Has been more consistent than his car owner and is 8th in the points. 10. (6) Tony Stewart – After 2 Top 10’s in a row, Had no Car and dropped him to 10th in the Cup Standings. 11. (NR) Mark Martin – Finished 2nd at Dover to climb into the Last spot in the Chase as of Today. 12. (12) Jeff Gordon – With a win by Greg Biffle or Denny Hamlin he would lose his Wild Card spot.
