Denny Hamlin's No. 11 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team edged Jimmie Johnson's No. 48 team in the 2011 Pit Crew Challenge Thursday night in Charlotte.
Hamlin's pit crew changed four tires, filled the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota with fuel and pushed the car 40 yards in 22.298 seconds to collect the $70,675 and first pick of a pit stall for Saturday's All-Star Race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Of course the Hamlin crew selected stall No. 1.
The No. 11 over-the-wall crew consists of Scott Wood; catch-can man Justin White; front tire changer Nick Krizmanich and carrier Brandon Pegram; rear tire changer Mike Hicks and carrier Heath Cherry.
The team rallied to become the first repeat champions in the seven-year history of the Pit Crew Challenge.
