Keselowski Edges Allmendinger for 600 Pole

Brad Keselowski ran a fast lap at 192.089 mph in NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying Thursday to capture the pole for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. A. J. Allmendinger starts second after posting a lap at 191.693 mph.

 

"What an awesome lap," Keselowski said.

 

Carl Edwards qualified third followed by Denny Hamlin and Jeff Burton.

 

Starting sixth through tenth are Jimmie Johnson, David Reutimann, David Ragan, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Clint Bowyer.

 

Stenhouse, Jr., subbing for Trevor Bayne in the the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford, is making his Sprint Cup debut this weekend at Charlotte.

 

Andy Lally, T. J. Bell, Scott Wimmer, Tony Raines and Scott Riggs did not qualify.
