NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Clint Bowyer began his career on dirt and that experience came in handy Wednesday night at Eldora Speedway as he claimed his first victory in the seventh annual Prelude to the Dream. Bowyer started on the pole and led flag-to-flag to win the annual charity race in dominating fashion.
“This is a test session for the big race this weekend,” said Bowyer.
J. J. Yeley finished second followed by Aric Almirola, Kyle Busch and Justin Allgaier.
Bowyer, Justin Allgaier, Marcos Ambrose and Jason Leffler won the eight lap heat races prior to the 30-lap main event.
2010 Prelude winner Jimmie Johnson finished 18th. Eldora Speedway owner and three-time Prelude winner Tony Stewart finished 20th.
St. Louis Children's Hospital won the team competition and will receive 30% of the net proceeds.
