NASCAR Action in Pocono & Texas This Weekend

pocono-racewayNASCAR's Sprint Cup Series heads north to the Pocono Mountains this weekend while Camping World Truck Series drivers are at Texas Motor Speedway as the Nationwide Series teams take a well deserved breather before next Saturday’s race in Michigan.

 

Carl Edwards remains in command of the 2011 Sprint Cup point standings with Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. second and third, respectively. Johnny Sauter leads Cole Whitt and Austin Dillon in the Truck Series championship battle.

 

Truck Series drivers kick the weekend off in Texas on Thursday with two practice sessions, the first at 12:00 p.m. and the second at 1:45 p.m. followed by qualifying for Friday night’s WinStar World Casino 400K at 7 p.m.

 

Sprint Cup action begins at Pocono Raceway Friday with opening practice at 12:30 p.m. followed by Happy Hour at 3:30 p.m. The WinStar World Casino 400K Truck Series race is scheduled for a 9 p.m. start with driver introductions beginning at 8:40 p.m. Watch it live from Texas on SPEED.

 

Sprint Cup qualifying starts at 11:10 a.m. Saturday in Pocono and will be live on SPEED. The ARCA Remax Series takes center stage Saturday afternoon for the Pocono 200 at 1:30 p.m. SPEED will air the ARCA race Saturday night at 8 p.m. for those who can’t get to the track.

 

Sunday’s 5-Hour Energy 500 at Pocono Raceway gets underway at 1 p.m. with driver introductions beginning at 12:30 p.m. TNT’s live coverage starts at 12:00 p.m. with the Countdown to Green. All times are eastern.
