David Stremme surprised everyone with the fatest lap in Sprint Cup Happy Hour Friday at Michigan International Speedway. Stremme's No. 30 Inception Motorsports Chevrolet led a trio of go-or-go-homers in the final round of practice for Sunday's Heluva Good! 400.
Stremme's lap at 185.095 mph bested those of J.J. Yeley and Travis Kvapil. Hendrick teammates Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. rounded out the top-five.
David Ragan, who led opening practice, made contact with the rear of Jeff Burton's machine in turn four as Burton slowed. Neither car received any serious damage.
Joe Gibbs Racing suffered two significant blows at Michigan International Speedway during Friday's practice sessions. Joey Logano's engine expired in the No. 20 after NASCAR found all three of the team's Toyotas with unapproved oil pans.
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. ET and will be live on SPEED.
