Red Bull Racing’s future in NASCAR has taken center stage after a surprise visit by the team’s race director Thomas Ueberall at Michigan. According to reports team members have been told the operation will shut down at the end of 2011.
Several scenarios have been presented as rumors continue to circulate. Red Bull Racing released the following statement on Monday:
"Red Bull Racing Team is currently seeking outside investors as we evaluate next steps in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. We are not at liberty to comment on details while negotiations are under way. Red Bull fully supports NASCAR for the remainder of the 2011 season as we fight for victories and a position in the 2011 Chase for the Sprint Cup."
