NASCAR added Chicagoland Speedway and Kansas Speedway to the schedule in 2001 and ever since they have become a staple on the circuit and another track this season is hoping to do the same. For the first time, Kentucky Speedway will be hosting a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, along with the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series for a weekend full of racing.
Carl Edwards had a misstep with the two car tango at Daytona that resulted in Kevin Harvick taking the Sprint Cup Series Points lead. Carl Edwards is now second followed by Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch and Matt Kenseth heading into Kentucky. Reed Sorenson remains your Nationwide Points leader while Johnny Sauter looks to solidify his Camping World Truck Series lead.
The action begins on Thursday with the only practice for the Trucks at 10:00 a.m. followed by a four hour Sprint Cup Series test session beginning at 11:05 a.m. Qualifying for the Truck race begins at 3:05 p.m. with more Cup testing and Nationwide practice to follow at 4 p.m. and 6:25 p.m. respectively. Catch the UNOH 225 Camping World Truck Series race live on SPEED beginning at 7:30 p.m. if you can’t make it to the track.
Friday is a busy day at Kentucky Speedway beginning with final practice for the Nationwide cars beginning at 9 a.m. The Sprint Cup cars take to the track for two practices the first at 11:30 a.m. and the final session at 1:30 p.m. Nationwide qualifying gets under way at 3:30 p.m. followed by Sprint Cup qualifying at 5:00 p.m. Watch it all live on SPEED. The Nationwide cars take to the track for the Feed the Children 300 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN with driver introductions beginning at 7 p.m.
Saturday night’s inaugural Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway begins with TNT’s live coverage at 6:30 p.m. Driiver introductions start at 7 p.m. All times are eastern.
