Sprint announced today an exciting opportunity for race fans in a three million dollar promotion billed as the Sprint Summer Showdown presented by HTC EVO 3D.
The six-race series starts at Indy on July 31 and runs through Atlanta on September 4. Any driver winning one of the five NASCAR Sprint Cup races between the Brickyard 400 and the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol becomes a finalist for the three million dollar payout at Atlanta on Labor Day Weekend. If one of the five finalist wins the Advocare 500 at Atlanta then the driver, the drivers charity and a fan will be awarded 1 million dollars each.
Fans enter each week by picking the driver they think will win that week's race at sprint.com/speed or at the Sprint Experience display at the track.
"It's always great to win, but to make a difference in the lives of other people by doing so is why I'm excited about the Sprint Summer Showdown," said Carl Edwards. "The fans are what make this sport, and helping charities accomplish their goals is extremely important to me. I'm hoping I'm the guy that gets to hand over $1 million to some lucky fan and to charity. I'll do everything I can to make it happen."
