Ryan Newman posted his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory of the 2011 season in Sunday's Lenox Industrial Tools 301 after holding off his car-owner and Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Tony Stewart in the closing laps.
"A great weekend for Stewart-Haas," said Newman, who won the Cup pole on Friday and a NASCAR Modified race at the 1.058-mile track on Saturday.
Stewart started on the outside front row and finished second after leading 48 of the 301 laps.
“This was a perfect weekend,” said Stewart.
Denny Hamlin finished third followed by Joey Logano and Jimmie Johnson.
Kasey Kahne, Bobby Labonte, Martin Truex Jr., Marcos Ambrose and Kurt Busch completed the top-10.
Carl Edwards moved back into the Sprint Cup point lead with his 13th-place finish. Edwards carries a seven-point advantage over Johnson as the series heads to Indianapolis for the Brickyard 400 on July 31st.
