Sprint Cup drivers are feeling the pressure of the Chase this weekend at Indianapolis. With the prestige of an Indy win on the line Chase contenders may throw caution to the wind when it comes to kissing the bricks.
Carl Edwards has the point lead, or does he? If the Chase started today he would be third or fourth. Not one to be fooled Edwards knows what he has to do when the green flag is waved on Sunday.
Five-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson currently trails Edwards by seven points and has his sights set on a sixth championship. He would like nothing better than to win the 2011 Brickyard 400 and leave Indy sitting atop the point standings.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has held a top-10 spot in the standings all season long and is experiencing a recent slip after finishing 30th in Kentucky and 15th two weeks ago at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Earnhard, Jr. says he will have the "hammer down" on Sunday.
Edwards, Johnson and Earhardt commented on the Chase Friday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
