NASCAR’s Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series teams are in the mountains of Pocono, Pennsylvania this weekend while Nationwide Series drivers head to the 7/8-mile Iowa Speedway for some short track racing.
Jeff Gordon won Pocono in June and will be looking to return to Victory Lane at the flat 2.5-mile track known as the Tricky Triangle. Elliott Sadler is the defending Truck Series race winner and will be in Iowa where Kyle Busch picked up the Nationwide win last season.
Carl Edwards remains Mr. Consistency when it comes to leading the points, but he only has a slim 11-point margin over Jimmie Johnson heading into Pocono. Dale Earnhardt Jr. sits in 10th place and will need a strong run this weekend to keep his Chase hopes alive. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. takes over the Nationwide point lead from Reed Sorenson but it’s still a tight race as the top six drivers are separated by less than 100 points. Johnny Sauter continues to be firm atop the Truck Series point standings.
