Ryan Newman turned the fastest lap in Friday's opening Sprint Cup practice at Pocono Raceway while Kasey Kahne sat atop the leader board at the conclusion of the final Happy Hour session for Sunday's Good Sam RV Insurance 500.
Newman ran a lap at 170.026 mph to lead the first session with Kurt Busch, A.J. Allmendinger, Carl Edwards and Mark Martin completing the top-five on the speed chart.
Kahne's lap at 167.520 mph topped Happy Hour with Martin, Harvick, Bowyer and Juan Pablo Montoya second through fifth, respectively.
NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying starts Saturday at 10:40 a.m. ET.
