marcos-ambrose-watkins-glen-victory-laneMarcos Ambrose left Australia in 2006 for the United States in order to pursue his dream of being a successful NASCAR driver. Today Ambrose is a Sprint Cup winner after making a last lap pass in the rain-delayed Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen to become the fifth first-time victor of 2011.

"It's a dream come true," said Ambrose, who dedicated the win to Linda Petty. "Winning in the Cup series is an incredible feeling."

"No one really knows how much everybody puts into this to get to victory lane. When it happens, it's almost a surreal moment."

The race had a wild ending with a green-white-checkered finish setting up a two-lap dash for the win.

Kyle Busch led on the final restart and drove into one a little too fast allowing Brad Keselowski by for the point with Ambrose hot on his trail. Ambrose out-braked Keselowski on the last lap and held on to win as carnage erupted behind the leaders.

Boris Said made contact with David Ragan sending Ragan’s car into the outside wall before coming back across the track and hitting David Reutimann. The contact sent Reutiman for a flip. Reutimann and Ragan walked away from their destroyed machines.

Moments later Tony Stewart lost control of his No. 14 Chevrolet and left the track surface taking a ride through the grass. Merging back onto the track Stewart made contact with Clint Bowyer to bring out the caution on the final lap.

Said and Greg Biffle had a confrontation after the race when Biffle approached Said with a complaint. Biffle had been running behind Said prior to the last-lap accident with Ragan.

Crewman separated the two as tempers flared and words exchanged.

"He's the biggest scaredy cat I've ever seen," said Said.

Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards are now tied for the Sprint Cup point lead with Jimmie Johnson third.
