David Reutimann steered the MWR Toyota around the .75-mile Richmond International Raceway at 127.383 mph Friday afternoon to earn the pole for Saturday night's Wonderful Pistachios 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.
It is the Florida natives fourth career pole and his first since 2009.
"We're working hard to get things turned around and I think what you're seeing is a direct result of some of the stuff that we're doing different," said Reutimann, who is 28th in the 2011 point standings.
Jamie McMurray, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin and Clint Bowyer will line up second through fifth on tomorrow's grid.
Mike Skinner, Erik Darnell and T. J. Bell did not make the field.
ABC will broadcast Saturday night's 400-lap Sprint Cup race live from Richmond with coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m.
