ryan-newman-nhms-pole"Rocket" Ryan Newman was the last driver to qualify in Friday's rain- interrupted time trial session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway but the Stewart-Haas driver will start first in Sunday's Sylvania 300 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race after running a pole-winning lap at 135.002 mph.

Newman is driving the car this weekend that he used to win the July Sprint Cup race at NHMS.

"I feel like we've got a good race car, we just need to keep our nose clean," said Newman.

Kasey Kahne starts on the outside of row one with Brian Vickers, Greg Biffle and Kurt Busch rounding out the top five.

Six of the 12 Chase drivers start in the top 10 with Kevin Harvick sixth followed by Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex, Jr. and Jimmie Johnson.

Steve Park and T.J. Bell did not make the field.

Sunday's Sprint Cup race will be live on ESPN at 1:00 p.m. ET.
