In a reversal of roles from one year ago Clint Bowyer ran out of gas handing Tony Stewart the lead with two laps remaining in Sunday's Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The two-time NASCAR champion went on to score his second victory in as many races and assume the lead in the 2011 Chase for the Sprint Cup.
Stewart's tank went dry last year while leading with one lap left.
"I know exactly how he feels," Stewart said of Bowyer, who ended up 26th in the final rundown. "It's a tough way to win it."
Brad Keselowski finished second 7.225 seconds behind Stewart and moved up to third in the Chase standings. Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon and Brian Vickers completed the top five.
Gordon made a huge jump from 11th to sixth in the Chase and is contention for his fifth title.
Round three of the Chase takes place next week at Dover International Speedway.
