NASCAR’s most heated rivalry heads west to Kansas Speedway this weekend with round four of the Chase to the Sprint Cup scheduled for Sunday while Nationwide Series drivers run on Saturday and Camping World Truck Series teams take a week off.
The feud between Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson flared up at Richmond just one week before the Chase began when the two got together a couple times during the race. Busch had words with reporters on pit road and in the media center after the race and declared “I’m going to beat him fair and square with my Penske Dodge." Busch backed it up at Dover, crossing the line ahead of runner up Johnson.
Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards are tied for the Chase lead going into Kansas. The Chase is still anyone’s game as the top nine are separated by less than 20 points. With his Dover win Kurt Busch moved up to third and is only nine points back. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. remains atop the Nationwide Series standings and carries 22 point lead to Kansas, one of the largest intervals a points leader has had all season.
Sprint Cup practice kicks the weekend off on Friday at 12:30 p.m. followed by two Nationwide practices, at 2:10 p.m and 3:45 p.m. respectively. Sprint Cup qualifying begins at 5:10 p.m. and all the action can be seen on ESPN2.
Nationwide qualifying gets underway at 10:05 a.m. on ESPN with the second Sprint Cup practice of the weekend at 12:30 p.m. Final Cup practice is set for 1:50 p.m., watch them both on SPEED. The Nationwide Series takes to the track for the Kansas Lottery 300 at 3:30 p.m. and will be live on ESPN2. Driver intros begin at 3:00 p.m.
Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 will be live on ESPN with the green flag scheduled to drop shortly after 2 p.m. Driver introductions begin at 1:30 p.m. All times are eastern.
