Don’t look now but Jimmie Johnson is making a run for that sixth consecutive NASCAR title. Johnson went into Kansas and had nothing but success as he dominated the field en route to his second win of the season.
The win is Johnson's 55th of his Sprint Cup career and ties him with Rusty Wallace for eighth on the all-time winners list.
The 48 team seems to be hitting their stride at the right time as he now moves to third in the points, and begins to put the pressure on the rest of the Chase field.
Meanwhile his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon’s chances went up in smoke literally as a blown engine cost him big time in the championship battle. The Chase battle is tight as the top eight are separated by 20 points heading into round five at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday night.
