Jimmie Johnson made a statement at Kansas.The 48 team showed why they are contenders for their sixth consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup title.

 

Driver of Week: Jimmie Johnson – Back to Back Driver of the Week awards after winning and leading 197 of the 272 laps.

 

Stat of the Week: 12 - Races Martin Truex Jr. has raced at Charlotte without a DNF which is a track record.

 

Last Week’s Prediction Results: Carl Edwards – No laps led but a fifth place finish.

 

This Week’s Prediction for Charlotte: Matt Kenseth – Average finish is 16.8 the last 13 races at Charlotte.

 

Power Rankings
(Rankings will be based off of who is running the best, with an emphasis on the last several races but having respect for the duration of the 36 race schedule. Last Week’s Rankings can be found in parenthesis.)
1. (2) Brad Keselowski – Has put together a string of 11 races where he has put up 25 or more.
2. (4) Jimmie Johnson – Takes the win at Kansas and climbs to four points back in the Standings.
3. (2) Carl Edwards – Not a single driver has outscored Edwards the last five races.
4. (5) Kevin Harvick – Loses the lead in points but is only one back.
5. (6) Kyle Busch – Loses five points in the standings to fall to 20 points back.
6. (1) Jeff Gordon – Has fallen to 47 points back with six races to go.
7. (8) Matt Kenseth – Is now 12 points back in the standings and has put up 120 points the last three weeks.
8. (7) Tony Stewart – Two races ago had the points lead, now sits 19 points back.
9. (9) Kurt Busch – Finishes 13th but six Chase drivers finished ahead of him.
10. (10) Ryan Newman – Has been outscored by every driver in the Chase but Hamlin
11. (11) Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Is 43 points back but runs at Charlotte and Talladega are near.
12. (12) A.J. Allmendinger – Barely holds onto spot from Clint Bowyer.
