jason-meyersJason Meyers powered by Donny Schatz to win his fifth consecutive World of Outlaws A-Main Feature Saturday night at Fremont Speedway in Ohio. The defending series champion extended his point lead with only Talladega and Charlotte left on the 2011 schedule.

“Donny (Schatz) and I got to racing really good there for a few laps,” Meyers said. “I got a pretty good run off of turn two, I saw the opportunity and took it. It paid off for us again tonight. I’m really running out of things to say. This DDNi/All-Star Performance/GLR Investments/Media-Tile car was awesome again tonight and I didn’t have to wear it out to keep up with Donny. This streak has been amazing and to win 55 World of Outlaws main events is just very special. My crew chief, Brian, and his wife had a baby girl right before Knoxville this summer and she’s been out the past five races. She and her mom weren’t scheduled to go to Talladega but I think they’re going to have to go now.”

Schatz started from the pole and led the first six laps before Meyers began to challenge. After a fierce eight lap battle for the point Meyers moved ahead to lead the remainder of the 40-lap contest. Kerry Madsen finished second.

“To finish second here at Fremont is huge for our team,” said a smiling Madsen. ”The competition level here is like when we go to Williams Grove. Our car ran great tonight. We qualified good, made it into the dash. Truthfully, with the way we have been running lately, we really wish the season was just beginning instead of ending.”

Local driver Bryan Sebbetto finished third with Schatz and Craig Dollansky completing the top five.

“This is unbelievable,” said Sebbetto. ”I grew up watching these guys and now I’m getting the opportunity to run against them. Not only did we make it in, we raced with them very well. I screwed up a little bit in the heat race and that cost a chance to get into the dash. I don’t know if we could have had anything for Jason but this feels good.”

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action Saturday, October 22 for the Sage Fruit Showdown at the Talladega Short Track in Talladega, Alabama.
