The fifth Chase race of 2011 shuffled the standings a little more with just five races remaining before a new Sprint Cup champion is crowned. Carl Edwards increased his point lead while Jimmie Johnson fell from third to eighth after crashing hard late in the Bank of America 500.
Carl Edwards holds a five point advantage over Kevin Harvick with the top eight separated by 35 points as the series heads to Talladega.
The “Big One” could have a major impact on the 2011 NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup in round six next Sunday.
