It’s Talladega time! NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series is heading south for an exciting weekend on the fast 2.66-mile super speedway known for close ompetition and wild finishes. The stars and cars of the Camping World Truck Series are also in town while the Nationwide Series takes a rest until Texas in November.
Carl Edwards remains the Sprint Cup Series point leader going to Chase race number six with Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart rounding out the top five.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. holds a steady lead in the Nationwide standings with a 15 point advantage over Elliott Sadler with three races remaining on the 2011 schedule.
Austin Dillon carries a five point lead to Talladega with Johnny Sauter hanging on to second with four races left to decide who will be champion.
The Talladega weekend kicks off Friday morning with Truck Series practice at 10:30 a.m. followed by back to back practices for Sprint Cup drivers, at 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. respectively. Truck Series qualifying is set to go at 5:10 p.m. All can be seen live on SPEED.
Saturday begins with Sprint Cup qualifying at 12:15 p.m. The Coca-Cola 250 Truck Series race gets underway shortly after 4:00 p.m. and both can be seen live on SPEED.
Sunday’s Good Sam Club 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race goes green at 2:00 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN.
