Clint Bowyer passed teammate Jeff Burton on the last lap to win Sunday's Good Sam 500 NASCAR race at Talladega Superspeedway. It is Bowyer's first win of the season and the 100th Sprint Cup win for Richard Childress Racing.
Burton started in front on the final restart on lap 185 of the 188-lap race with Bowyer pushing until the exit of turn four on the last lap. Bowyer pulled side-by-side with Burton through the dogleg and won by 0.018 seconds.
"I knew he was going to make a move," said Burton. "He was supposed to make a move."
Dave Blaney finished third followed by Brad Keselowski and Brian Vickers.
Rounding out the top 10 were Kasey Kahne, Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, Michael Waltrip and Martin Truex, Jr.
Point leader Carl Edwards, who began the race with a five point advantage on Kevin Harvick, leaves Talladega with a 14 point lead over Matt Kenseth after Harvick and Kyle Busch were both involved in accidents. Jimmie Johnson finished 26th.
