Chasing a Championship in Martinsville

martinsville-speedwayThe Sprint Cup Series is off to one of the shortest tracks on the NASCAR circuit this weekend with round seven of the Chase taking place at the .526-mile Martinsville Speedway on Sunday. The Camping World Truck Series join the Sprint Cup cars while the Nationwide Series continue their break until next week in Texas.

 

Carl Edwards carries a 14 point lead over teammate Matt Kenseth to Martinsville in the 2011 Chase with the top five separated by only 26 points.

 

Austin Dillon holds a slim three point lead over James Buescher in the Truck Series standings. The top four are within 16 points with just three races remaining.

 

Martinsville revs up Friday at 11:00 a.m. with opening Truck Series practice followed by Sprint Cup practice at 12:30 p.m. Final Truck Series practice is set for 2:10 p.m. with Sprint Cup Happy Hour at 3:30 p.m. All can be seen live on SPEED.

 

Truck Series qualifying begins Saturday at 10:40 a.m. and Sprint Cup qualifying gets underway at 12:10 p.m. The stars of the Truck Series take center stage at 1:30 p.m. for the Kroger 200. Watch it live on SPEED.

 

ESPN will broadcast Sunday’s TUMS Fast Relief 500 live from Martinsville Speedway with coverage beginning at 1:00 p.m. The green flag will wave shortly after 1:30 p.m.
