Robby Gordon completed Monday's stage two of the 2012 Dakar Rally in third after leading for much of the day. Gordon's teammate, 2011 Dakar winner Nasser Al-Attiyah, won the stage after starting 38th.
“We started in 38th position and we passed a lot of cars,” said Al-Attiyah. “We broke the window and it was very difficult because we took a lot of time to pass many cars."
Gordon looked to be on his way to the stage win until a punctured tire in the second half cost him. Gordon was 2 minutes 42 seconds behind Al-Attiyah at the finish and is now second overall in the two-week event.
