david-reutimannTommy Baldwin Racing announced Tuesday the addition of David Reutimann to the two-car Chevrolet team for the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

Reutimann, released by Michael Waltrip Racing at the end of 2011, will be teammates with Dave Blaney.

“Tommy has built a really good organization from the ground up in a really short amount of time,” Reutimann said. “One of the things I like about Tommy and what’s refreshing about him is that he is just a racer. There are lots of things he could be doing but instead he is at the shop every day working hard to build the organization from the ground up."

Baldwin's goal is to have both cars in the season opening Daytona 500 and run the full schedule if sponsorship can be found. Golden Corral sponsored Blaney in 2011 but has decided not to renew for this season.

Blaney has a guaranteed starting position in the first five races in 2012 after finishing in the top 35 in owners points last season.

Reutimann, who has two wins and four poles on his Sprint Cup resume, is also talking to several truck teams about the possibility of running a few races this year.

"I’m just really looking forward to the season and see what we can do.”
