Robby Gordon started Wednesday's stage four 54 seconds behind the leader but his hopes were dashed after encountering a number of tire punctures on the mountainous river course from San Juan to Chilecito. Gordon finished the stage 14th, 25 minutes 4 seconds behind the winner.
Gordon is now fifth overall, 16 minutes 23 seconds behind leader Stéphane Peterhansel.
"We are perfectly fine right now," Gordon said. "We are a little behind where we want to be, but the HUMMER's are driving great. It's really going to be a great race down to the end."
