Robby Gordon had his best day to date in Monday's stage eight of the 2012 Dakar Rally, finishing second five seconds behind stage winner Nani Roma.
Gordon cut nearly six minutes from his deficit in the overall standings and is now second overall in the 14-stage rally. Gordon trails overall leader Stéphane Peterhansel by 7 minutes 36 minutes.
Monday's route extended from Copiapó, Chile to Antofagasta, on the Pacific Ocean.
