Kyle Busch captured his first Bud Shootout victory in a thrilling finish that brought the fans to their feet Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway.
After spinning out twice (with help) and surviving three "big-ones" Kyle Busch pushed defending NASCAR champion Tony Stewart to the lead on the final lap. Busch pulled to the outside approaching the checkered flag to win by .013 seconds.
"Oh man," Kyle Busch said after exiting the No. 18 JGR Toyota. "I don't know how many times I spun out, but I didn't spin out. It was fun to drive when I wasn't getting turned around. Tough race but a fun race."
Marcos Ambrose finished third followed by Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin.
NASCAR's recently implemented rule changes ended two-car tandems and returned the field to pack racing that resulted in multi-car crashes that sent several potential winners to the garage area.
Jeff Gordon went air born in the late race crash that set the field up for a green-white-checkered finish. The No. 24 Chevrolet rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof. Gordon climbed from the demolished car uninjured.
