Randy Moss announced Thursday that he purchased 50 percent of Morgan-Dollar Motorsports. The name will be changed to Randy Moss Motorsports, and the Truck No. will be switched from 46 to 81 to manifest the number he wears on his football jersey.
Moss grew up in West Virginia, got addicted to the sport growing up. Once a fan, he now owns majority of his own team. Unlike many other ventures prior to him that began at the Cup Series, Moss feels you have to earn that.
"Most of those guys started out at the top," Moss said. "I am true believer in you have to crawl before you walk, and I wanted to start at the bottom in the Truck Series." The costs of running a successful truck program reach up to six million dollars. If he cannot locate sponsorship for his team then he will have to get out his own checkbook to make dues. Moss ensures that he has the assets to keep the team running, although not unveiling the price of the purchase. "Yeah, I am prepared. I'll leave it at that," said Moss. "I have been in the league 11 years, so I think I'm good. I am not really saying that I am 100 percent certain that it's going to work, but at the same time, you've got to think positive. I think if you go out there and think in the negative light, bad things will happen." Moss dives into the sport of NASCAR with sky-scraping dreams. The overhauled team will introduce its self at Kentucky Speedway with Willie Allen behind the wheel of the No. 81 Randy Moss Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado.
