Rick Crawford set the standards high early on in Camping World Truck Series qualifying. Crawford was the 7th driver to qualify and he took the pole with a 19.988 second lap (94.737 mph).
With Weather.com reporting a 70 percent chance of rain for Martinsville, Va. it is surprising the Trucks were able to even begin qualifying. Fortunately, the weather held off and no one was able to overtake Crawford’s qualifying time. This is Crawford’s 2nd pole at Martinsville in the 15 races he has run at the half-mile oval.
“It’s important to qualify anywhere up front,” Crawford said. “I mean you’re doing it for the fans, number one, for being here on a misty day like today and you’re doing it for your team and for your owners and your sponsors. So it just feels good anytime to be up front.” Shane Sieg managed his best starting position of the year so far with a 94.326 mph run which puts him on the outside pole. Defending Camping World Truck Series champion Johnny Benson will start third.
Roush Fenway Racing driver Colin Braun will start fifth for today’s event which will give him good track position for his quest to win Roush Fenway’s 50th victory in the Truck Series.
If the weather holds out, the Kroger 250 Camping World Truck Series race will get underway at 2 p.m. Eastern Time today.
