Hornaday Fastest In Both Truck Practices

ron-hornadayTruck Series veteran Ron Hornaday Jr. paced both practice sessions for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Friday at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Piloting the No. 33 Longhorn Chevrolet for Kevin Harvick Inc., Hornaday laid down a fast lap in the day’s first practice session of 30.267 seconds at a speed of 178.412 mph. The 2007 Lowe’s winner backed up his performance in the second and final session with a lap of 30.389 seconds at a speed of 177.696 mph.

 

Hornaday currently sits second in the series standings and is looking for his first win of 2009. Despite being winless this year, Hornaday is optimistic with his team’s efforts so far.

 

“At my age you’ve got to be happy with everything,” Hornaday explained. “You’re not below ground, you’re above ground. You’ve got a fast race truck every week. Kevin and Delana [Harvick] have definitely given me a truck you can drive. We’ve got great sponsors really supporting our whole effort trying to run the Camping World Truck Series.”

 

mike-skinnerMike Skinner was second-quick in the day’s first session in his No. 5 Rue & Ziffra, P.A. Toyota. Posting a quick lap of 30.469 seconds at a speed of 177.229 mph, Skinner will be looking for his first victory at Lowe’s during tonight’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200. The veteran backed up his quick time in the second session by posting the third-fastest time.

 

Alabama-native Rick Crawford was second on the speed charts during the day’s final session for the trucks. Running a quick-lap of 30.417 seconds at a speed of 177.532 mph, Crawford is also going for his first victory at the 1.5-mile track that sits within walking distance of his team’s shop.
