Camping World Truck Series crew member Andrew Crnkovic has been suspended by NASCAR after failing a random drug test. Crnkovic is a crew member on the No. 07 truck driven by Chad McCumbee and owned by SS-Green Light Racing. The team released a statement yesterday morning regarding the suspension and the team’s stance on substance abuse.
“It is and always has been the philosophy of the SS-Green Light Racing team that substance abuse has no place in sports or on our team. We have a "no-tolerance" substance abuse policy and we intend to uphold that policy and follow through with the standards of conduct we have established for our team.” SS-Green Light Racing also showed their support for the drug testing done by NASCAR. “We have great respect for the drug testing policies NASCAR has in place and believe the changes have made a positive difference for NASCAR.” The team’s press release was the second yesterday; information about a new sponsor was released by the team earlier yesterday morning. NASCAR technology provider tiwi™ has signed on to be the primary sponsor for McCumbee’s truck in four Camping World events including this weekend’s race at Dover, Texas Motor Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway inthinc’s tiwi™ brand is not solely used in NASCAR, it is also used by NASA and has been used to reduce the accident rates for commercial fleet vehicles. The company is getting prepared to launch a new teen monitoring and mentoring system designed to alert and instruct young drivers and allowing parents to receive real-time notifications on their teen’s actions, location and driving safety.
McCumbee is openly proud of the partnership. “Not only are they keeping us safe on the track,” said McCumbee. “Now they will start working to significantly reduce teen-related accidents as well. I didn’t realize how important that was until I recently learned that one in three teen deaths are the result of a motor vehicle accent. That’s an alarming figure, if you think about it.” MORE NASCAR NEWS
