Lucky 13 – Sauter Takes Truck Pole

johnny-sauterJohnny Sauter has earned his first Camping World Truck Series pole. During qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway, Sauter set the bar high early on with a blistering 30.134 second lap at 179.200 mph in his #13 Chevrolet.

After dominating the first practice session, Ron Hornaday was first to qualify and his time of 30.256 seconds kept him in the top spot until Sauter’s run. However, the time was good enough to keep him in the second position. Hornaday swept both races at Texas Motor Speedway last year and rolling off second in the WinStar World Casino 400 will give him a good chance at a three-peat.

Matt Crafton, Brian Ickler and Dennis Setzer rounded out the top-five. Ickler was fastest in final practice prior to qualifying.

Rick Crawford and Chad McCumbee will start in the 6th and 7th positions, respectively, with Ricky Carmichael rolling off 8th. Carmichael is returning to his Kevin Harvick Inc. ride after a brief hiatus in his schedule when J.R. Fitzpatrick ran the #4 Chevy Silverado.

Todd Bodine and Timothy Peters rounded out the top-10.

The WinStar World Casino 400 is scheduled to begin Friday June 5, 2009 at 8:30 pm on Speed.
