Last October, Ron Hornaday had Victory Lane déjà vu after winning the Chevy Silverado 350K at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS). It seemed like he had done it all before; that’s because he had, only four months prior.
The question is, can he get the three-peat this weekend? He would certainly like to. “It would be something I’ve never done before,” Hornaday said. “It is always special to get a win, I really don’t care where you’re at. To win three races in a row at the same place shows just how dominant a team can be there. Brendan (Gaughan) won four in a row here a few years ago so I guess I would just be trying to catch him.”
Hornaday has had a lot of success at intermediate tracks, like Texas. Last year Hornaday took home the hardware six times, five of those victories were at an intermediate track. “I’m not sure that we have found one thing that makes us better at the 1.5-mile tracks. Rick (Ren) and the guys have worked on our aero package and several things under the hood that have made our Chevrolet Silverado’s stronger at these types of tracks.” In addition to his already proven success at TMS, Hornaday will roll into the Lonestar State with another trick up his sleeve, chassis No. 24. This is the chassis that he drove to Victory Lane in both races at TMS last year. It is also the chassis that he won with at Lowe’s Motor Speedway less than three weeks ago. With his record of domination at Texas, his proven success on intermediate tracks and chassis No. 24 to pilot, it seems Hornaday is a shoo-in for the victory this weekend. If he does prevail the three-peat will be his and he will have earned Kevin Harvick Inc. its 20th victory in the Camping World Truck Series. MORE NASCAR NEWS
