Rookie of the Year contender Brian Ickler was able to score his first career pole after running a lap of 40.839 seconds at a speed of 176.302 mph at the Michigan International Speedway. The driver of the No. 15 Billy Ballew-owned Toyota has only four starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, but has started in the top-10 in all but one of those events.
Matt Crafton put his No. 88 Chevrolet on the outside of the front row with a lap of 40.871 seconds at a speed of 176.164 mph. In seven previous races at the 2-mile D-shaped oval, Crafton has only one top-5, one top-10 and two DNFs.
Last week's winner Todd Bodine was third-fastest in Saturday's qualifying session, followed by Kyle Busch, Ron Hornaday Jr. Johnny Sauter, Mike Skinner, J.R. Fitzpatrick, James Buescher and Rick Crawford. The ninth race of the 2009 season for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is set for a 2pm E.T. start with coverage beginning at 1:30pm.
