Defending Camping World Truck Series champion Johnny Benson crashed his ISMA Super Modified car last night at the Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich.
Benson made contact with another car entering Turn Four which caused Benson to spin. The car made a hard, driver's side impact into the outside wall and then burst into flames. Benson was transported to the Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich. after being unable to exit the car under his own power.
According to local Michigan news station WZZM13, a hospital spokesperson "confirms that Benson is in serious but stable condition." Reportedly Benson sustained multiple injuries including burns and broken ribs and no release date has been determined. The news comes just days after Benson lost his Truck Series ride with Red Horse Racing due to lack of sponsorship. MORE NASCAR NEWS
